Just back from Lac Cavagnac, myself and my brother's father-in-law, Mick - we couldn’t persuade my brother to come with us. We arrived on the 5th May. The weather had turned colder so we knew the fishing would be harder as David told us that the fish had started to spawn during the previous, warmer week.

Nonetheless, we got on the lake. David showed us around, pointing out areas that they had identified, and I fished up against one of these marks. On the first night - bang! – a 35lb common. (UK best 28lb mirror) Was I pleased, or what?

Anyway, the fishing was harder than anticipated but we had a total of 16 carp from 13lb to 38lb - all stunning fish. The food was superb, the lake was out of this world and what can I say about David and Tom? Tom is a real helpful lad, keen to assist, and David is just the most helpful guy you could want to meet. His knowledge and help has guided me in the way I will fish back home.

I listened to David’s advice and landed my first ever thirties at 35 and 38 pounds. I just want to say that, from Rosie at the booking stage to David at the lake, I will never have such a fantastic time and I’m already contemplating my return later this year to catch the lake when the spawning is a thing of the past.
